ABOUT US AND OUR PLACE IN THIS WORLD
BIRCH – A WAY OF LIFE
Stories about harvesting sap in our area dates back to the 16th century. Even the Finnish national epic, Kalevala, describes the birch as a holy tree that creates a connection between man and nature. We use birch to warm our saunas, and to make designer furniture. We find peace wandering through endless green birch forests. So it's safe to say that birch has a special place in our hearts.
About our special place
We are located in a small village on an island at the western seashore of Finland. The first bridge connecting the island to the mainland was constructed only 30 years ago. Right at our border is the UNESCO's World Nature Heritage site. Historical documents about harvesting birch sap in this very same area dates back to the 16th century. This gives you an idea of how special our location is. We take pride in continuing centuries-long traditions working with birch sap.
The basics in order
It´s the basic things like clean water and natural forests that make an extraordinary birch sap. Our sustainability program even includes planting young birch trees. It is our way of giving back to nature
